Edit Categories
From the Edit Category page, you will see a number of fields to fill out. Fill in each field with the appropriate information:
Name: Name of the Category.
CategoryID: Give this category a UNIQUE number. Your catalog will identify your category by this number. It can be changed at any time, but MUST be unique. (Very similar to a product's Stock #)
Parent Category: Here you can choose whether you want to make this category a main(parent) category by choosing "top level" on the drop down menu or make this category a sub(child) category of an existing main(parent) category.
Hide this category in category listings: This will make the category hidden from the visitor unless you create a link to the category on one of your pages.
Category Price Points:
This option affects the way that price points are calculated for each product contained in the category. When disabled, the quantity used for the price point thresholds will be the quantity of the individual product that a shopper purchases. When "category price points" is enabled, it uses the number of products purchased from the entire category as the quantity for the price point thresholds. This allows you to give customers a discount by category quantity instead of product quantity.
For example, assume your catalog contains just 1 category and two products are in that category, item1 and item2. The products item1 and item2 have their price points configured as follows:
Item 1
| Quantity |
Price Per Item |
| 1-3 |
$30.00 |
| 4-6 |
$20.00 |
| 7-9 |
$10.00 |
|
Item 2
| Quantity |
Price Per Item |
| 1-3 |
$80.00 |
| 4-6 |
$50.00 |
| 7-9 |
$20.00 |
|
Now, suppose that a customer puts the following in his/her shopping cart:
Shopping Cart
| Item Name |
Quantity |
| Product 1 |
4 |
| Product 2 |
3 |
Based on the information above, the table below shows what the customer would be charged if "category price points" was either enabled or disabled.
|
Product 1 |
Product 2 |
Total |
| If Disabled |
$20 x 4 = $80 |
$80 x 3 = $240 |
$320 |
| If Enabled |
$10 x 4 = $40 |
$20 x 3 = $60 |
$100 |
If "category price points" is disabled, the price points for the products are calculated using a quantity of 4 for product 1, and 3 for product 2. If enabled, however, the price points for all products in the category are calculated using the total number of products in that category, which in this case is 7.
Description: Description of the Category.
Header Html Page: This option allows you to add an HTML page at the top of a category's display page in the shopper interface. Type in the path for your html page, or use the 'EZ-Browse' button to choose it from your list of files.
Footer Html Page: Same as the "Header HTML Page", but your html page will show at the bottom of the category display.

Optionally, you may use the EZ-ButtonPicker to choose an Order button or Back button. Click on EZ-ButtonPicker and select the graphic you wish to use. Its name will be inserted automatically into the appropriate field.
